MOMosa Mother's Day Brunch!!!

A Morning for the Women Who Raised Us: Mother’s Day at Woodhouse
Sunday, May 11th | Momosa Brunch at Woodhouse Blending & Brewing

At Woodhouse, we’ve always believed in creating space—for connection, for celebration, for the moments that matter. And few days matter more than Mother’s Day.

We’re honored to host this year’s Momosa Brunch—a joyful, heartfelt tribute to the mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and mentors who’ve poured so much of themselves into the people we’ve become. Whether you were raised by one woman or a whole community of them, this day is for acknowledging their strength, their softness, and their unmatched ability to make a house feel like home.

On Sunday, May 11th, we’ll fill our space with the warmth of good food, good people, and bottomless mimosas that catch the morning light just right. We’ve partnered with amazing local talent to create a brunch worth lingering over—because the women we’re honoring deserve more than a quick thank-you. They deserve a whole morning dedicated to joy, reflection, and togetherness.

So bring your mom. Bring your chosen family. Or come raise a glass in memory of someone whose presence still guides you. However you arrive, you’ll be in good company.

Let’s gather in gratitude—and let’s make it beautiful.

We Won—Again! Thank You, Santa Cruz!

We Won—Again! Thank You, Santa Cruz!

When the Santa Cruz Planning Commission unanimously approved our events space, we thought we had finally overcome the obstacles keeping us from bringing live music, arts, and cultural gatherings back to Woodhouse. But just days later, Guy and Stacey Mitchell, along with Santa Cruz Core Fitness, filed an appeal—forcing us to fight the same battle all over again, this time before the City Council.

They claimed our events would somehow devalue their property—despite the fact that we are in a commercial zone, next to active train tracks, where 140-decibel horns regularly sound. They also dismissed the overwhelming public support for Woodhouse, belittling the voices of those who stood up to share what this space means to them.

But once again, the community showed up, and the truth won out. The City Council upheld our approval, rejecting their appeal and ensuring that Woodhouse will continue to be a home for live music, local art, and community connection.

This wasn’t just about saving an event space. It was about defending the kind of city we want to be—one that values creativity over complaints, culture over control, and a thriving, connected community over the interests of a few.

We are grateful beyond words for your support. You showed up. You spoke out. And together, we won.

We remain committed to being good neighbors and stewards of the community—supporting local artists, hosting meaningful events, and keeping Santa Cruz vibrant and welcoming for all.

Thank you for believing in us. The best is still ahead.

With gratitude,
Woodhouse Blending & Brewing

Notice of Public Hearing #1

Woodhouse Blending & Brewing has officially passed through the Santa Cruz Planning Commission, marking the end of a long and unnecessary battle to bring live entertainment back to our outdoor space. 150 people showed up in support, proving that this city values music, culture, and community gathering.

In October 2023, we were hit with a cease-and-desist order from the City of Santa Cruz, forcing us to shut down all outdoor entertainment. For three years before that, we had hosted live music, comedy, book talks, artisan markets, and cultural events without issue—no complaints, no problems, just a thriving space where people came together.

The shutdown felt like a gut punch. It made no sense. Why take away something that worked? While cities across the world were embracing outdoor entertainment, we were being told to stop. And all because of a handful of naysayers who wanted to control a space meant for everyone.

So, we fought back. We challenged the city. We paid unjust fees. We pushed for change. And now, after months of navigating the system, we finally won. Woodhouse can once again be a home for live music, community events, and shared experiences.

This victory belongs to all of you who stood with us, showed up, and proved that Santa Cruz won’t let its creative spaces be erased.

The best is yet to come. Stay tuned.
