Santa Cruz Opera Project presents Puccini’s La Bohème in an updated English-language adaptation set in present-day Santa Cruz. This intimate and immersive production brings audiences up close to one of opera’s most beloved stories, following a group of artists as they navigate love, friendship, and the ups and downs of creative life. Featuring a chamber orchestration for string quartet and piano, this fresh take highlights the warmth, humor, and heartbreak of Puccini’s iconic score.

General Admission tickets are $50 and include one drink ticket (beer, wine, or non-alcoholic options). You also have the option to join us for our Wednesday preview performance, offered as a pay-what-you-can event. Doors open one hour before the performance, giving you time to settle in, enjoy food and drinks, and take part in fun pre-show activities. Approximate run time is 2 hours, including a 15-minute intermission. Please note that drink tickets are not included with preview performance tickets.

Join the summer dance party with a rare emergence of WindCave, local iconic 90's rockers performing uplifting original music with an ever-timely message.

Their high energy songs reveal many musical influences ranging from funk rock to reggae, from ballad and Americana to a few enigmatic hard-edged gems. WindCave has a song for everyone and a glow of nostalgia for those who remember their reign here during the Palookaville epoch in simpler times.  

Named after the Chumash painted caves above hometown Santa Barbara, WindCave chose ever-welcoming Santa Cruz as a base between tours in the 90s. The band is stoked to bring their music home to Woodhouse for this special night.

With a big map and no planned destination, this trio of seasoned improvisers from the jazz, funk, and jamband worlds use song and structure the way spacecraft use planets: not to land and stay, but to slingshot around and be propelled back out into the galaxy.

Matt Hartle (China Cats, Painted Mandolin, Shady Groove, Grateful Sundays with the Hartle Gold Band) is widely regarded as one of the premier guitarists in the Bay Area — a fluid, soulful firecracker with a degree in Jazz Performance whose playing draws comparisons to Jerry Garcia, Carlos Santana, and Steve Kimock, yet remains unmistakably his own. Pete Novembre (OM Trio, Coffee Zombie Collective, Aza, Elephino) is the kind of bass player other musicians talk about after the show — a Santa Cruz readers' poll Bronze medalist for Best Musician whose previous band OM Trio was voted Best Jazz Band in San Francisco in 2001. Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Bret Bailey (Shady Groove, Elephino, BlissNinnies, Cosmic Pinball), raised on New Orleans jazz, brings a rhythmic intuition that makes the whole thing breathe.

During their mostly-improv shows, a familiar song could materialize at any time. Or not. All we can promise is that nobody knows what's going to happen.

Stars have aligned for one epic evening of Outdoor Afrobeats and Indoor with our monthly Square Dance!

Be Natural Music will feature their incredible youth Rock and Jazz bands at Woodhouse Blending and Brewing! Eight bands will showcase their extraordinary talents on the Live Stage! 

This event is also a fundraiser;  all donations collected go towards scholarships for anyone who wants to learn music, regardless of their financial situation.

Our Scholarship Fund currently supports 45 students who take private lessons and in the bands we offer. Come support our students by watching them perform,  making a donation & bidding on our live auction!
