Zoé Basha!

  • Woodhouse Blending & Brewing (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Zoé Basha is a Dublin-based musician, composer and carpenter. Her original pieces and traditional songs explore the pulse of American ragtime, the sway of Appalachian mountain songs, and the fervour and solemn ornamentation of Irish traditional songs. With her signature band sound of playful, syncopated guitar, country fiddle, electric organ, drums, and a booming voice reminiscent of some old jazz record you can’t quite put your finger on, Zoé Basha is a particular kind of americana, brewed in Dublin.
Her debut album ‘Gamble’ - self-released in April 2025 - was awarded ‘Folk Album of The Month’ by The Guardian, and received 4-star reviews on RTE Radio 1 Arena. Basha’s debut album and title track were shortlisted for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in two categories: Best Folk Album, and Best American Roots Performance.
Traveling by thumb, freight trains, and taking the scenic route with rust-bucket vans, Zoé Basha played music in the streets for years to sustain the journey. Of French and American origins but with some pretty persistent traveling shoes, she was pulled between Ireland and the traveling life for the last decade.
‘Gamble’ tells the stories of her roamings, through adventures and musings of intimacy, sorrow, celebrating the fleeting, and questioning the whole lot. The album is an intimate exploration of identity, grief, the deconstructing of societal norms, and the complexities of human connection, all delivered with a mesmerising voice that echoes the vulnerability and depth of her diverse influences. Inspired by the greats of times passed, such as Billie Holiday, The Mills Brothers, Jimmie Rodgers, Joni Mitchell, Texas Gladden, Edith Piaf and The Steve Miller Band– as well as her peers in the Irish folk music scene, Zoé Basha savours the sounds of golden eras with contemporary nuance and shameless honesty.

The Brotherhood of Freaks

The Brotherhood of Freaks

The Brotherhood of Freaks plays the music of the Chris Robinson Brotherhood. If you know the music of CRB, you’ll be stoked to hear it played live again by musicians who love playing these songs. If you’ve never heard CRB, it’s just great danceable music in the vein of the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead, the American rock & roll catalog, and good ol’ psychedelic music. CRB disbanded after the tragic passing of Neal Casal in 2019. Brotherhood of Freaks was formed to keep that treasure trove of musical bliss alive and rockin’. Based in Santa Cruz County, Brotherhood of Freaks are Steve Sofranko (China Cats, Stu Allen & Mars Hotel) on keyboards and vocals, Mike Cross on vocals and rhythm guitar, Mike Johnson (Cosmic Pinball, Kava Jah) on lead guitar, Paul Garcia (Puffball Collective, Slugs & Roses) on drums, and Kyle Gorath (Velour) on bass. Embracing the CRB catalog, the band lovingly plays for your listening and dancing pleasure! "Let the [music of] CRB set you free!"

BRIAN FITZGERALD TRIO!

Led by guitarist Brian Fitzgerald, the Brian Fitzgerald Trio is an engaging, multi-layered musical convergence that features Fitzgerald on 7- string guitar, Mike Anderson on bass and

Bruce Handloff on drums. While each member is an accomplished jazz musician and top-flight soloist, this trio uses remarkable, seemingly telepathic communication skills to create thoughtful, sophisticated arrangements that feature a modern, captivating and unique sound that provides solid melodic footing, while leaving room for spontaneous, creativity.

With a band requirement of having fun, combined with few, if any musical boundaries, all mixed into an open, improvisational jazz format, is a sure recipe to expect the unexpected. A listener will be treated to anything from hard swinging traditional jazz arrangements to re-imagined classic pop tunes often disguised in clever, thought-provoking arrangements.

Performances include Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Monterey Jazz Festival, Abbott Square Market, Cabrillo Music Festival. KPIG Radio, Los Gatos Fiesta de Artes, Santa Cruz Jazz Festival, Scotts Valley Art & Wine Festival, Capitola Art & Wine Festival, Artichoke Festival, Begonia Festival, Jazz On The Wharf and others!

🎶 Ring in the New Year with Henry Warde! 🎶

Celebrate the start of 2025 with an evening of timeless country sounds, led by musician Henry Warde. Known for his deep roots in bluegrass with groups like Windy Hill and Larry Gillis and the Hard Driving Swampgrass Band, Henry is bringing his love for classic country to the stage this New Year’s Eve.

With a style inspired by the golden era of the ’50s and ’60s, Henry’s music pays homage to the honky-tonk and Bakersfield sounds that defined a generation—music that gets your boots tapping and reminds us why those songs never fade.

Henry says it best: “We’ve always felt a strong connection to the older music—it’s simple, genuine, and full of heart. We just want to keep that tradition alive.”

Come dance, celebrate, and welcome the New Year in true country style with Henry Warde! 🤠✨
