8:30PM MICROTIGER: The musically focused bipeds known as Microtiger have been playing around the Santa Cruz scene for five years and have yet to grace us with any recorded music. The long wait is coming to an end. On October 25th Woodhouse will be hosting their very first track release party! Microtiger will be bringing the heat with a six-piece band including drums, dubby bass, screaming electric guitar, tantalizing trumpet, moody alto sax and powerhouse vocalist Belle Tuttle! You can expect a conjunction of ear-worming original songs and well-loved reggae covers in a style that you might describe as Folk-Jazz Reggae. If you can, imagine Sharon Jones from the Dap Kings created a love child with Groundation, then hired a nanny who was a folk-punk slam poet. If this is beyond what you can fathom then you'd better come to check out this unique sonic experience. 

7:00PM BRAIN FOOD: This wouldn't be a true party without a DJ to warm up the house and a whole second band! Brain Food is the most recent project from Joey Storm of Santa Cruz's well-loved original Cali-reggae band The Leftovers. Brain Food is more of a soul project, getting back to roots reggae with an enticing gypsy jazz flavor. With a revolving door of local guitarists and percussionists you can expect something a little new every time. Brain Food continues to evolve with their excellent taste in covers and original tunes. 

6:00PM DJ CAPTIV8: Rising star DJ Captiv8 is a high grade selecta who has recently been featured at One Drop Wednesday reggae jams and Reggae On The Roof at Bruno's. He will be setting up the vibes for the evening, creating a special mix and sharing his love for reggae music.

Mike Hellman is a country and americana troubadour with a bent for the unconventional. Slinging songs with substance, conviction and grit, he’s on a mission to tell his truth and he insists on being heard. While firmly rooted in the rich country and blues traditions of his home state of Texas, he refuses to pander to cliché and his sound is anything but predictable. His lively performances swing from ballad to barn burner to outright rock ‘n’ roll, and his rich baritone conjures earnestness and humor while dealing head-on with all aspects of the human condition (and with a not-so-subtle nod to the downtrodden). An “outlaw” for outlaws, Mike's music transcends the often narrow boundaries set by the mainstream country music establishment.

No stranger to the stage, Mike has performed at large venues, honky-tonks and intimate listening rooms across the US, building a dedicated following along the way. He has turned heads at Americanafest and has shared the stage with prominent americana artists such as Jason Eady, Gabe Lee, Jenny Don’t and the Spurs, and countless others. 

His 2024 full length release "Trials and Triumphs" has enjoyed enthusiastic reception and features a who’s who of talent: guitarist James Deprato (Chuck Prophet), pedal steel player Ian Taylor Sutton (Vincent Neil Emerson), multi-instrumentalist Chuck Bradley (Hellbound Glory) and mastering by Michael Rosen (Santana, Green Day, etc). Mike is touring widely to support the release, and plans are underway for a sophomore album in late 2025.

Construction worker by day and troubadour by night, Mike somehow still makes time for his many other passions including the outdoors, heavy metal and union organizing. He splits his time between Houston, TX and Santa Cruz, CA.
